Project Description

In its exploratory phase, RCRC and Amador College Connect will administer the project to create a comprehensive framework for a locally accessible training program aligned with industry standards to equip students with in-demand skills for middle-skill jobs. Key objectives include collaborating with an experienced consultant and Columbia College to develop industry-aligned curricula that address workforce needs in industrial arts.

Research from the North Central Valley/Northern Mother Lode Labor Market Overview highlights a significant gap, with only 7% of advanced manufacturing jobs filled, leaving 2,300 positions open. A robust labor market assessment will guide the curriculum and ensure alignment with regional demands.

The program will also engage underserved high school students, particularly those in disinvested census tracts, as defined by the State of California, through a targeted community outreach plan. Success will be measured by the creation of a ready-to-launch program, including finalized curricula, participation from stakeholders such as industry partners and local schools, and the completion of critical economic and technical assessments to support future implementation.
