Sierra Compost

The Sierra Compost project supports communities in reaching their goals surrounding food scraps and organic material management, as well as compost production and application. This work is stewarded by the California Alliance for Community Composting (CACC), Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians of California, and the Bishop Paiute Tribe Food Sovereignty Program to support regional farmers, ranchers, and land managers to grow local food, improve soil health, and strengthen local circular economies.

This project builds community self-reliance and climate resilience by coordinating discussions to identify community needs and resources, using that information to collaboratively produce community led solutions.

Our vision is a thriving network of community-based composting sites, helping to reduce landfill dependence and creating high quality compost which can be distributed to the local community as an economically sustainable public resource.
